7. ISA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024


Start and duration:
The start of the 7th ISA program is planned to be the 1st of March 2024. 
1st of March 2024 until 30th of November 2024,  8 months in Hamburg and 1 month project implementation in the country* of origin*
Location: WÄLDERHAUS in Hamburg/Wilhelmsburg, Germany
Funding: The costs for accommodation in gender-mixed flat-sharing communities, the workplace, the costs for outward and return flights, the foreign health insurance and a German course are covered. In addition, each scholarship holder receives a monthly stipend for the research work.

*these are tentative dates subject to change according to current regulations in Germany and the overall travel situation due to the COVID 19 pandemic

Application requirements

  • Scholarship holders must come from the countries on the DAC list
  • English knowledge to be at least B1/B2. Candidates who have pursued their higher Education in English, do not need a separate proof of their English skills.
  • Have a at least secondary school degree and relevant professional experience 
  • The scholarship holders* must already be working or researching on a project in their home country that is ideally sustainable or has a potential sustainable concept. What is important is a visible benefit for the home country. 
  • The project must be related to at least one of the following SDGs, 
  • SDG 1: No poverty
    SDG 3: Health and well-being
    SDG 4: Quality education
  • SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation
  • SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
    SDG 12: Sustainable consumption and production
    Please note that SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 13 (Climate action) must also be considered. SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals) should be presented as well.
  • There is no age limit for the application.

Required application documents

With the new funding phase of the project there will be 2 selection rounds. 1. Round online application, completing the online form and up-load of 6 PDS documents: 

● CV, 3-4 pages in tabular form
● English test result (TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certification from B1-C2). No need for English test for native speakers or those who conducted higher studies in English. 
● Relevant title certificates and one other reference from an official body.

Round 2. Video interviews of 30 minutes with an international jury.
